What is DirectX?
DirectX is a collection of components that helps software, mostly games , to get direct connectivity with video and audio hardware. In windows using DirectX the multimedia accelerator has a direct access to the audio and video hardware which improves the overall gaming experience.
Tip – You may not need a new version of DirectX it mostly depends on the version of windows installed on your systems we have provided a detailed list of the version required according to your windows.
Check version of DirectX installed in your computer?
1. Windows 10
- Click on start menu and search, DxDiag and search results will appear.
- Tap or click on DxDiag from the results.
- From DxDiag click on the system information section and look for the version installed in your pc.
2. Windows 8.1 or 8
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap search/click on start menu and search, DxDiag and search results will appear.
- Tap or click on DxDiag from the results.
- From DxDiag click on the system information section and look for the version installed in your pc.
3. Windows 7 or earlier
- Click on start menu and search, DxDiag and search results will appear.
- Tap or click on DxDiag from the results.
- From DxDiag click on the system information section and look for the version installed in your pc.
How to Download and Install DirectX
- Open the Microsoft website and navigate to DirectX page
- Chose your choice of language from the drop-down menu and click on download to install the setup file on your device. .
- Once the download is complete Open the dxwebsetup.exe file and follow the instructions to install it on your PC. It should take only few minutes to install.
Tip – Read all the instructions carefully before installing you might be asked to install some other items such as binge bar. Uncheck any other applications you don’t need on your PC.
- Restart your computer even if you are not asked to do it.
- Once you restart your computer see if updating to the latest version helps you in the troubles you were facing before.
